Dad’s Chocolate Chip Cookies — A Single Batch of Love ♥
Because baking for someone you love is one of the sweetest forms of connection.

There is something timeless about chocolate chip cookies. But there is something even more powerful about creating a recipe specifically for someone you care about.
When you take a classic recipe and gently adjust it — a little more sweetness here, a touch of honey there — you are doing more than baking. You are listening. You are noticing preferences. You are connecting.
Baking invites you back into your senses. The warmth of melted butter. The scent of vanilla. The sound of flour folding into dough. The feel of chocolate chips beneath your fingertips as you press the dough flat. When you slow down and truly experience the process, baking becomes less about outcome and more about presence.
And presence, in many ways, is the real secret ingredient.
Recipe Details
Yield: 18 cookies
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Bake Time: 10 minutes
Oven Temperature: 350°F (175°C)
Ingredients
♥ 8 tablespoons (1 stick) salted butter
♥ ½ cup white raw cane sugar
♥ 3/16 cup (2 tbsp + 1 tbsp) packed light brown sugar
♥ 1 ½ tablespoons honey
♥ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
♥ 1 egg
♥ ½ teaspoon baking soda
♥ ¾ teaspoon salt
♥ 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
♥ 3/8 cup chocolate chips (half semi-sweet, half dark)
Instructions
1. Melt the butter and allow it to cool slightly.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the white sugar, brown sugar, honey, vanilla, and melted butter. Mix until blended and glossy.
3. Gently blend in the egg — mix for only about 15 seconds, just until combined. Overmixing reduces tenderness.
4. Stir in baking soda and salt.
5. Add half of the flour and blend. Add the remaining flour and mix until smooth.
6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
7. Using a cookie scoop, drop dough balls onto a baking stone or cookie sheet.
8. Cover with parchment paper and gently roll or press the tops to create even thickness.
9. Bake at 350°F for approximately 10 minutes. Cookies will look slightly under-baked in the center — this is intentional and keeps them chewy.
10. Remove from the baking sheet and place on a cooling rack. Allow to cool fully before enjoying.
Optional: For a Tasty Treat Anytime — Freeze Your Cookie Dough
1. Love fresh cookies but do not want to bake an entire batch? Here is your bakery-style hack.
2. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes until it is no longer sticky.
3. Cut parchment paper circles approximately 6 inches in diameter.
4. Lay one parchment circle down. Place a handful of dough on top — about enough for 3–4 cookies.

5. Place another parchment circle on top.

6. Use your hand to press the dough flat. The chocolate chips become your depth markers — they will not compress further. Press until the dough is level with the chips.
7. Leave a small ring of space around the edge of the parchment — the dough will not extend fully to the border.

8. Stack your parchment-wrapped cookie rounds and freeze.
Now you can pull one out anytime and bake a large, bakery-style cookie whenever the craving strikes.

Air Fryer Option:
Bake at 325°F for 8–10 minutes.
Test with your own appliance to determine ideal timing based on thickness. Every air fryer runs slightly differently.
This method creates that oversized cookie-shop feel — warm, fresh, and perfectly chewy whenever you want it.
Nourishment Notes
Underbaking is the secret to a soft, chewy center.
Melting the butter instead of creaming it creates that classic chewy-gooey texture. Combining semi-sweet and dark chocolate adds depth and balance.
Beyond ingredients and technique, baking reconnects you to something essential — the rhythm of mixing, the feeling of warmth, and the anticipation of sharing. When you know what you are eating and enjoy the experience of creating it, food becomes more than fuel. It becomes memory. That is part of nourishing your mind, body and spirit.
