As you make your way through the hustle and bustle of daily life many of your actions and decisions are done on autopilot. You order coffee the same way, eat at the same restaurants and drive the same route to work every day. This happens automatically and you never really think about it. These routines are comfortable and familiar. You already know what to expect and how things are going to work out. While your habits are comfortable, continuing to repeat them keeps you in the same places in life that you are currently. This includes money, health and everything in between. The reason for repeating these behaviors lies in your subconscious mind in the form of fears, also known as limiting beliefs. Despite your level of unhappiness, these fears try to convince you that it is better to stay in your present, familiar situations than seek something better in the unfamiliar territory of change. The key to changing your current life circumstances and bringing in new opportunities is conscious living.
Conscious living allows you more progress and happiness in the areas of your life that you would like to change. You have two areas in your brain that govern your thoughts and actions, the conscious and the subconscious. The conscious part is used when you analyze how a circumstance, event or action is going to affect your life. The subconscious part is used when you do things out of routine, habit, comfort, and on autopilot. This is where the limiting beliefs about everything in life reside and run the show if you don’t consciously make your own decisions.
Conscious living requires that you do two things when presented with a choice or before taking an action. You must first pause to think about what would be in your highest good and bring true happiness to your life. Will this decision bring you closer to the goals you want to accomplish or create a delay keeping you in the old familiar patterns that you are accustomed to? Second, you must have the courage to make that choice and take the path that leads to your happiness even if it makes you uncomfortable in the beginning. The discomfort is just the underlying fear of change trying to stop you. By understanding how fears show up and attempt to run your life, you have the power to recognize them and take back control.
Once you have made the decision to start living by consciously aligning your choices with your hearts desires, your world changes shape and those long held dreams turn into realities. The power of limiting beliefs and fears diminish as you become comfortable with the unknown aspects of change. You learn to find excitement in the unfamiliar as it consistently brings opportunities that allow you to reach those goals and new levels of happiness. It’s time for you to shut off the autopilot mode that has been running your life and create the reality that you deserve. It’s time to live consciously.
